The President of UTAG at KNUST has weighed in on the ongoing controversy involving Wesley Girls Senior High School, arguing that students who choose to attend mission or religious schools must abide by the rules and traditions of those institutions.
He emphasized that by enrolling in a religious school, students implicitly accept the values and discipline that come with it — and that those values take precedence over personal preferences. According to him, schools like Wesley Girls are meant for training and shaping character, not for serving as platforms for individual religious expression.
The UTAG leader likened attendance at such institutions to a kind of disciplined environment (similar to the military), where the institution’s rules must come before personal or religious inclinations.
In his view, students who are unwilling to follow the institutional rules — including those related to religious or moral conduct — should reconsider enrolling, or simply stay away.
