Interior Ministry orders full investigation into alleged assassination attempts on Special Prosecutor.

The Ministry of the Interior says it is investigating claims that Kissi Agyebeng, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) Chief, reportedly survived two assassination attempts while performing his duties. The announcement — made on December 8, 2025 — follows statements by Samuel Appiah Darko, the OSP’s Director of Strategy, Research and Communications, during a television appearance on December 6. On that show, Mr. Darko also claimed that he was handcuffed and beaten by 17 police officers.

According to the Interior Ministry, initial contacts with Mr. Agyebeng suggest that the alleged assassination attempts occurred before 2025. However, the Ministry noted that there is currently no official record of threats or complaints filed at any police station or state security agency regarding the matter.

Because such allegations could seriously undermine national efforts to fight corruption if true, the Ministry is treating the matter with utmost seriousness. As a result, it has ordered: (1) a comprehensive investigation into the claims that Mr. Agyebeng’s life was threatened; and (2) a separate probe into the allegation that Mr. Darko was assaulted by police officers.

The Ministry also emphasized that “crime does not expire,” meaning it will pursue the investigations regardless of when the alleged incidents occurred. They pledged to keep the public informed about the outcome and any actions taken.

Finally, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all citizens can go about their lawful affairs without fear, and to protecting the lives and property of everyone.
